🚀 Moscow Students Talk to ISS Cosmonaut via Radio with Support of Rad-Lab SINP MSU

On May 18, 2026, staff of the Radiation Monitoring Lab (rad-lab) at the Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics, Lomonosov Moscow State University (SINP MSU), conducted a radio communication session with the International Space Station (ISS) 🌍🛰️

The event was attended by students from several Moscow schools 🏫:

1. University Gymnasium of Lomonosov Moscow State University
2. Vorobyovy Gory Lyceum
3. TsPM School
4. Letovo School
5. School No. 1580
6. School No. 1786
7. Proshina First School, Zvenigorod

The session took place at the MSU Small Spacecraft Control Center. Rad-lab staff provided technical support for the communication link, while the students had a unique opportunity to ask questions directly to the orbiting station 🎛️📡

The communication was established with Sergey Kud-Sverchkov 👨‍🚀✨, Commander of the 74th long-duration expedition and Roscosmos cosmonaut. The session lasted exactly 10 minutes — from 8:27 PM to 8:37 PM. Thanks to excellent signal conditions, stable and clear communication was maintained "from horizon to horizon📶🎯." During this time, the students successfully asked all 12 prepared questions and received detailed answers.

Some of the questions asked during the session included ❓🎙️:

· Do cosmonauts ever regret choosing their profession?
· How do their families feel about them working in orbit?
· What would they do in case of a collision threat with space debris? ☄️🛡️
· What kind of dreams do they have on the ISS and what music do they prefer to listen to? 🎧💤
· What medical assistance can be provided on board in case of a health emergency? 🏥🩺
· How do they spend their free time, and what personal items do they take into space — and why? 📸📚
