“Space Weather and Its Impact on People and Technology” — Lecture at NAUKA 0+ in Minsk

How does the state of the Sun affect people’s well-being and the operation of technologies on Earth? And why is this especially important for crewed space programs?

On September 5–6, the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus hosted the Science Festival — the country’s main popular science event. As part of the NAUKA 0+ project and this year’s theme, “Your Space Universe,” Alexander Lavrukhin, a researcher at the D.V. Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics of Moscow State University, gave a lecture.

The lecture explored the physics of Sun–Earth connections and how the state of the Sun and near-Earth space affects people and technological processes — both on Earth and in space.
