Restoration of a Satellite Control Ground Station: Joint Work of the SINP MSU Radiation Monitoring Laboratory and Crimean Students

Today, work was carried out in the settlement of Nauchny, Bakhchisaray district, to restore an automatic ground station for controlling small spacecraft. The event was attended by employees of the SINP MSU Radiation Monitoring Laboratory, Dmitry Pashkov (R4UAB) and Georgy Antonyuk.
The main task for our laboratory specialists was to restore the operational capability of the satellite control station, which is necessary for receiving telemetry and controlling small spacecraft, including those used in radiation monitoring projects.

During the work, a new rotary system was installed, antennas were returned to their positions, and a multi-band antenna system — a 30-element cross-Yagi — was assembled and tuned.
A distinctive feature of this field trip was the participation of students from the Simferopol College of Radioelectronics, members of the collective amateur radio station R7KBR. Under the guidance of laboratory staff, the future radio engineers gained practical experience in installing antenna-mast systems and setting up a parabolic antenna. This collaboration helps maintain ground segment infrastructure and also trains personnel for work in the fields of space technology and radiation monitoring.
The work was carried out successfully. The station has been returned to service and is ready to participate in current and planned experiments of the Radiation Monitoring Laboratory.

We thank all participants for their coordinated work and contribution to the development of ground-based space infrastructure!
